The Art that Pays was a series of discussions held at Bennington College in April and May of 1936. The intent of the series was to analyze contemporary popular arts "which have developed from the modern methods of machine reproduction and the resulting cheap, widespread distribution through such agencies as the movies, the radio and the power press...these arts will inevitably seen in comparison with the great or classic traditional art in each field and with the experimental contemporary forms discussed four years ago" in the 1933 symposium on Modernism in the Arts.en_US
