Barre Junior Symphony Orchestra with Bennington student soloists (program)

Abstract

"For this Sunday Afternoon Music Hour the Barre Junior Symphony Orchestra is fortunate in being able to secure as guest soloists a group of students from the Music Division of Bennington College, Bennington, Vermont. Carol Haines, who is a Junior at Bennington College, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Haines of Mt. Kisco, N. Y. She studies the French Horn with Robert McBride, well known composer, who is a member of the faculty of the Music Division at Bennington College. Katrina Voohees, who is a senior in the Social Studies Division at Bennington College is the daughter of Mrs. John D. Jameson of New York City. She studies the piano with Carlos Buhler. Diana Marvin, who is a third year student in the Music Division at Bennington College is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Langdon Marvin of New York City. She studies the Bassoon with Robert McBride. The French Horn and Bassoon are unusual instruments for Barre Junior Symphony Orchestra programs. In the fifteen years the orchestra has been in existence we have never had a French Horn solo and only once Bassoon so1os on these programs. Today's guest soloists are made possible thru the co-operation of Robert McBride. The Director of the orchestra wishes to acknowledge the debt he owes him and to express his appreciation for his co-operation."
