General Meetings, 1941-1947

Box 5 & 6 General Meetings were a prominent part of campus life at Bennington during President Jone's tenure. These meetings, which took place 2-3 times per week, allowed for performances, readings, lectures, and discussions from across the academic disciplines. Evening meetings often featured guest lecturers, although performances and lectures by Bennington faculty and students were also featured. Notable lecturers and performers included: W.H. Auden, Ralph Ellison, and Erich Fromm. Documents relate to the planning and documenting of the evening meetings, and include correspondence, event programs and announcements, and schedules of meetings.
