dc.description.abstract"In April 1924 the New York Committee arranged for a meeting of educators which was held at the Colony Club in New York City. Invitation were sent to the heads of preparatory schools, colleges and universities East of the Mississippi. The response was amazing. The great ball room of the Colony Club was packed to capacity. The assembly was addressed by Pres. Neilson of Smith College; Dr. William H. Kilpatrick, Professor of the Philosophy of education at Teacher's College, Columbia University, and myself. Pres. Neilson and Dr. Kilpatrick stressed the need for a new departure in the education of women. The meeting passed resolutions endorsing the project, which by this time had acquired considereable momentum. Not all the criticism was friendly."
