Bennington Alumnae Constituency

Abstract

"The purpose of this galley is to propose that at the time of the Spring '69 meeting of the Alumnae Board, which occurs on campus, dialogues be opened with the various constituencies of the College, to discuss the question of a Bennington Alumnae "Constituency". President Bloustein raised this question at the beginning of his administration. At that time, the assumption verbalized by members of the Alumnae Board was that the Alumnae at large--many of whom were inactive--would not want to take on the responsibilities of constituency . In the early days of the College, the intention was to have no 􀀃alumnae association at all, probably because of the stereotype of the powerful and reactionary alumnae bodies functioning in most colleges at that time. The undersigned suggest that the Board's assumption be re-examined as to what responsibilities and privileges a constituency might now entail."
