Item Community Meeting Minutes December 4 1935(1935-12-04) Anderson, ConstanceDuring the question period Mr. Leigh presided. The following questions concerning "What Is Wrong With Bennington" were presented and discussed by the meeting 1. Is there an increasing amount of divisionalism and general narrowness within fields of study in the college? 2. Is there an increasing individualism in the college? 3. Is the religious life of the College given enough attention? 4. Suggested revision of the college terms to shorten spring term. 5. Is the social life of the college adequate? 6. Do the upper classmen take sufficient responsibility for the freshmen? 7. Is Bennington too protective, not preparing the student sufficiently to meet life outside the college?Item Community Meeting Minutes June 10 1936(1936-06-10) Anderson, ConstanceVoting on proposal from the Community Council that Bennington join the National Student Federation of America.Item Community Meeting Minutes March 18, 1936(1936-03-18) Anderson, ConstanceThe Walloomsac River flooded in March 1936. Dr. Osbourne warned the community of the danger of infection and disease in wading in the flood waters and requested that the community meet the present emergency in an intelligent fashion. She also requested that every girl who has not had measles report daily to the infirmary until the danger of a measles epidemic is passed. Mrs. Garrett announced that until the college could again receive power for electricity etc. that there would be lights in the halls and bathrooms of the student houses. She also requested that no candles be used in the student houses and that fire screens be kept around the fireplaces as during the present emergency the Bennington fire equipment would be unable to get to the college, and that the students save on electricity as it would be needed for cooking etc.Item Community Meeting Minutes November 6 1935(1935-11-06) Anderson, ConstanceThe chairman read a statement clarifying the interpretation of Community Standard II, concerning the question of men in the student houses after midnight. President Leigh announced that there would be one or more evening meetings in December to discuss problems relating to community life. Helen Webster announced that the Literary Board has placed in the library and the store an exhibit of work of members of the community published since 1932. Mr. Jones asked the community to be very careful to keep all smoking in the Commons on the first and second floors.Item Community Meeting Minutes September 25 1935(1935-09-25) Anderson, ConstanceThe Chairman read the proposed "Reorganization of the Bennington College Recreation Board". The chairman announced that the subject of less noise in the houses during the day, as well as after 10: 00 P.M. would be discussed in house meetings.Item Minutes of Open Meeting for Discussion of Twelve O'Clock Rule on May 1936(1936-05-27) Anderson, ConstanceA meeting for the discussion of the twelve o'clock rule which states that "girls shall not entertain men in the living rooms at night for more than half an hour any time after midnight."
